In the exterior wood door market, we're seeing growing demand for more energy efficiency and technologies to improve the performance of wood doors in tough exposures. Homeowners want to know what we're doing to make our products better. We've introduced more performance improvements in the last couple years than we had in the previous decade. Improvements like our Ultra Block and WaterBarrier technologies, both of which protect wood doors from water infiltration, and come with a five-year warranty. Homeowners' tastes also continue to be unique. As a manufacturer, we need to be in tune with these trends and respond with the breadth of product choice and custom capabilities needed to catch up. We've made doors from more than 100 wood species and are introducing new door designs at a record pace, "says Brad Loveless, marketing and product development manager, Simpson Door Co.
Therma-Tru fiberglass doors have a solid polyurethane foam core that is five times more energy efficient than traditional wood. The door systems also boast high-quality weather-stripping, wood lock stiles, high-quality hinges and a variety of sills - virtually eliminating air and water infiltration and decreasing energy costs. Optional upgrades include a proprietary adjustable security strike plate that withstands 450 pounds of force and a multi-point locking system that enhances security.
